Kodiak Marine Construction

In the 1970s...
In the early 1970s, the owner and president Ray Wadsworth built the first Liahona, featuring a cutting-edge twin-screw, shallow-draft design. A few years later, the second Liahona was built.

In the 1980s...
More commerical fishing boats were constructed and sailed out to sea. Here's a photo showing a few of them. Left to right, Hukilau (not built by KMC), Order of Magnitude, Natalia, St. Joe, and the third Liahona.

In the 1990s...
The Order of Magnitude was literally the world's fastest commerical fishing vessel. Built in the glory days of the herring fishery, this boat was sure to win in any race to the fish.

In the 2000s...
In an effort to improve the Alaska fishing industry, Kodiak Marine Construction was sidelined into fish processing technology. But they still managed to build boats, such as the Wild Salmon, a processing vessel converted from a primitive military landing craft.

Today...
Kodiak Marine Construction has completed the design of the Model 696, the first in a new line of fishing boats. For information about this and Kodiak Marine Construction's latest projects, please contact Ray Wadsworth.
